I love overnight oats! The cold, creamy taste of a nutritious bowl of overnight oats makes my heart sing. I like the fact that it’s so simple to make too.
The oats absorb the liquid you add and can be eaten warm or cold. I prefer cold.
And each glorious bowl fills me up and takes me all the way to lunchtime. I make my overnight oats in a plastic Tupperware like container but you can also make them in mason jars or if you’re at the end of a jar of peanut butter, throw all the ingredients in there. I personally like to do that with warm oatmeal so the peanut butter melts ahhhh delicious.
And you can choose to cover them or not. I like to cover them to help minimize the potential for a mess.
A simple grab and go meal
Overnight oats can be made in so many different ways. All you need are a variety of ingredients.
- Oatmeal (I have used old fashioned rolled oats AND quick oats)
- Almond/soy/regular milk
- Berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries)
- Protein powder
- Any nut butter
- Greek Yogurt
- Chia seeds
- Cacao nibs
I personally make mine with oats, almond milk, chia seeds, protein powder, vanilla and cinnamon. I vary the fruits but like to put blueberries in overnight. Then in the morning, I top my overnight oats with 1/2 banana and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Of course I mix it up and vary the fruits too.
How to Make Overnight Oats
Step 1: Add 1/2 cup oats to container of your choice
Step 2: Add other dry mix in’s
Step 3: Add liquid
Step 4: Mix up all ingredients
Step 5: Cover and put in the fridge overnight
Step 6: Grab a spoon and enjoy.
