Menu Plan Monday: January 26th

January 26th, 2009 · 10 Comments · Healthy Meal Plan/Menu Plan Monday

Menu Plan Monday time!  Pretty easy week here since Monday and Tuesday’s meals are already cooked and ready to go. We had stir fry last night with my stepson and his girlfriend and have plenty left over so we’ll have that tonight and then hubs also precooked a pot roast for Tuesday.  We might precook meals more often!

Here’s the menu plan for the week:

Monday-
Stir Fry and brown rice (leftovers)

Tuesday-
Pot Roast (pre-cooked), veggies, Kashi rice

Wednesday-
Tuna and Soup

Thursday-
Spaghetti w/spicy turkey sausage in homemade sauce and biscuits

Friday-
I’m out to dinner for a friend’s birthday and Kev is on his own *wink*

What is on your menu for this week?

That is so awesome that you do menu plans. That is something that I struggle with.

I got all my groceries done this weekend. I have a massive box of greens, eggs and veggies for omletes, chicken, some more fish and 1 pork loin left. I have pitas and soups for my lunchs (and whatever leftovers from dinners).

So this week all dinners are a mix of salads and some sort of meat (chicken or fish)

Not a plan such as you have it – but lots of good mixable foods that will be made and eaten!

    :D

I’m stopping by for the pot roast :) I have a roast planned one night, we’ll eat leftovers and I will most likely make a beef stew out if another night, BBQ chicken breasts one night :) , and we plan on grilling steak even if it is freezing outside! Haven’t had a steak since the beginning of Dec. and am starting to crave it :)

how funny (and by funny I mean weird :) ) would it be if I just waited for you to post your meals for the week and simply stole those for my plans :)

Tamzin and Annette, you menu items sound good. I wish I liked omelets more because hubs loves them. Oh and we grill all year round whether there is snow on the ground or not.

    Steal away Miz! LOL

Meal planning and pre-cooking totally help me, too! It’s amazing what a difference they can make, isn’t it?

You know, preplanning meals for the whole week before going shopping is one of the best ideas. I am not motivated enough to do this, but I’m going to start trying harder.

It is amazing what a difference meal planning and pre-cooking makes. We are starting to really like it.

Diana, I think our next step is pre-planning meals before grocery shopping. We currently don’t do that but I bet it would help save us some money. We spend way too much at the grocery store. We stop there too many times a month.

I’m forever saying I’m going to start meal planning but I never get around to it.

However – and we were just talking on my message boards about this the other day – I am going to start pre-cooking meals. This seems like something I could so get into. And my kids can help!

I watched a video of a woman who was putting together 5 meals for in the freezer. I know it didn’t even take 10 minutes.

Now of course, she had a bunch of the stuff out already but still – even she said it takes her about a half hour to prepare a week’s worth of meals. And, the way she was doing it, everything is done in the microwave. So, when it’s time to eat it – it still doesn’t take long to prepare!

Now you’re probably as skeptical as I am about the whole microwave thing – trust me – I was too.

However, the way she showed how to do it was basically steaming the meals in the microwave. Now that I can handle!

If ya ever want the link to the video and discussion Angie, let me know ;)

    Keep up the fantastic work!
