Workouts for Week of October 31, 2011

Here are my lousy workouts for this week LOL  Hopefully while we are vacationing I’ll be able to keep quite active.  Will keep you updated.

If you want to follow our vacation adventure as the Marriott Resort to Romance beach bloggers, you can follow us on the Marriott Frenchman’s Reef blog, where we will be blogging at least 3 times a day.  We’ll also be on our Newton’s Travels Facebook page, Twitter and our own family travel blog.  We are really looking forward to this experience.  Hope you’ll keep up with us as we travel to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Here are my workouts for the week:

Weekly Workout Recap

All workouts in our new home gym!  Loving it.  And just yesterday (Sat.) we went back to our favorite fitness store, Fitness Factory where we previously got our spin bikes and treadmill from and ordered my dream machine, the ELLIPTICAL and two other dreamy pieces of equipment, the BOSU and the vertical knee raise/dip.  I think we are pretty much set for a while except I am BEGGING for a body opponent bag for boxing (like BOB).  Anyway, let’s move on to my workouts for the week. I think it was a great week and hope for another this week.

We Won, We Won

Thank you all so much for your support in voting for us during the Marriott beach blogger contest.  WE WON in case you haven’t heard.  It was all about votes and YOU made it happen.  We can’t wait to share our experience with you.  I still can’t believe it!  We’ll be heading to St. Thomas Virgin Islands and staying at the newly renovated Frenchman’s Reef Marriott Resort.  Isn’t it beautiful?  I know it was meant to be.  You can keep up with our travels on our new Facebook page at Newton’s Travels.

Wasa Flatbread Review and Workouts

Had a really tasty treat this week!  Will tell you more in my review below.  But first, here are my workouts for the week which are nothing to write home about but I’ll get over this hump soon. We are done with the shed and hopefully by the time I return from my business trip next week the garage will be empty and we’ll be able to start on the remodel of the home gym garage space.

While on my business trip this week, I hope to get some good workouts in at the hotel gym and I get to go to a Muay Thai Atlanta kickboxing gym.  I was going to get in there and really box but have had some back/neck issues so as of right now, I’m just going to get some boxing training in but you never know.  We’ll see how I feel come Wednesday!

Vibram Five Finger Shoes Workout

Workouts this week were good but could have been better but I’m still excited about the progress I have made with running in my Vibram Five Fingers shoes.  I still have a LONG way to go but I’m enjoying the challenge.  And it’s much easier than in regular running shoes. Who would have thought?  I have only run inside on the treadmill but I’m happy with that for now.  I’ll tackle the outdoor breathing challenges another year ha ha

I’m in the process of looking for a good cross training shoe for when I start doing kick boxing and other workout videos again.  Plus I’ll be doing some HIIT (high intensity interval training). I have tried a few shoes in the past but have heard of some suggestions like Puma and Skechers.  If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears.

Back To It

The week didn’t go as well as I had hoped but it’s been nice to get back into the swing.  After not working out while in Colorado, it was good to get back to it.  This weekend we did work on the shed but that wasn’t a huge calorie burn.  Looking forward to seeing what this week brings!

I have also been able to pick a few tomatoes from the vines and they are so fresh and tasty.  Cool to be growing my own!  Can’t wait for the bigger ones.  I’m already planning out next seasons garden.  I never thought I could keep things alive but it’s been fun watching this all take place.  I might not be able to keep flowers alive but I love the tomatoes so far and hope the orange peppers start showing AND I would love to have kale and spinach to pick from next year.  Oh there are so many veggies I would love to see growing in my back yard.  We shall see!
