Spinning Class

Angie on the Spin bike 2

Today Kev and I took our first spinning class. I had been so nervous every time he mentioned trying it out and I wish I would’ve tried it out sooner. Today we did Interval and they say that is the most difficult of the Spinning classes. The instructor is the lead Personal Trainer at our gym and has been very helpful. She was running late this morning so wasn’t really able to help me get the bike set up but we are thinking of taking another spinning class tomorrow morning so the instructor for that will help me. The only part of the class that she asked me not to do yet was the jumping (she told Kev that too but he couldn’t help himself).

My calories burned during spinning class were over 550. I thought it was a great workout and the music selection she had was fabulous. I’m so glad I decided to give it a try and look forward to many more spinning classes.

Do you Spin? If so, I would love to hear about your experience. And for those of you on the fence about taking a spinning class, I would recommend that you give it a try.

Fitness Center Open House

Our gym had an Open House tonight and it was fun.  They had a lot of give- aways, free massages, food and meet and greet.  My ticket was the 2nd one called for a prize and I won a cool gym bag from the fitness center.  Since we joined over 2 months ago, I have been debating if I would buy one and now I’m glad I kept putting it off.  They were also offering free mini massages and I took advantage of that.  I think we will sign up to get massages this summer.

Kev and I have been talking about trying out a spin class but I have been so worried that I wouldn’t be able to do it.  We talked to the head Personal Trainer tonight who leads the spin class tomorrow and I mentioned how worried I was but she said she has total faith that I will be fine since I do a lot of cardio machines and Turbo Kick classes.  She also mentioned that I can take it slow and stay seated if I need to.  So tomorrow morning we will be at the gym when it opens, workout and do weights for about 50 min, test out the spin bikes for 10 min. and take the spin class for an hour.

I’ll let you know how that goes.  Wish me luck!

Took my first Zumba fitness class

Kev and I got up early this morning to hit the gym before he went to work and after doing the Elliptical with him, I decided to try out the new Zumba fitness class they offer.  I had a lot of fun.  I had done a little bit of reserach on Zumba and could describe zumba dancing as a somewhat Latin form of music/dance.  It is not as intense as Turbo Kick, the class I do 3x a week but I still burned just under 500 calories.  To me it was a pretty relaxing type of workout but still good exercise.

I have found a few places online where you can learn more about Zumba if you should be interested.  The Today Show had a segment on Zumba last October.  I wish I could’ve seen that.  Here is the Wiki definition of Zumba.

You can even buy Zumba fitness dvd’s online

I’m looking forward to going back to Zumba class next Thursday.  Have you ever tried Zumba?  I would love to hear all about your experience.
