Weekly Weigh In: August 19

No change this week!  I’m stuck when it comes to the scale but I’m doing good with exercise.  At times I get frustrated that I had done so well before and now I struggle to get back to my lowest.  The food part is honestly the hardest and I just wish I could eat whole foods all the time and not have cravings for the ‘naughty’ stuff.  I know it’s not all bad but for me really it is since I can’t always control myself with it.  I read all of these awesome food blogs and their foods look and sound sooo good but seem so difficult to make or expensive.  I know that buying fresh whole foods is no more expensive than buying processed box foods but it’s the mindset. Oh and their portions are perfect but mine well that is another story.

I’m going to keep trying though, you know me, I won’t give up!

Current weight: 230
Goal weight: 140
Pounds left to go: 90

I did have some fun news come my way today though.  I made it into the Citrimax TOP 100 Diet and Fitness Blog’s list.  I’m #29 in the 3rd section. I’m among some very awesome bloggers there. YEA!

PS.  How did your week go?

Menu Plan Monday: August 17

Menu Plan Monday

Menu Plan Monday time and once again we did not plan it out this week.  We were going through the freezer to see what might be good for this week and almost everything was freezer burned or the meat was dark and we didn’t want to chance it.  So we have set out some chicken to thaw and will have that on Tuesday or Wed. but other than that not totally sure.  Maybe tuna and breakfast for dinner will happen this week but other than that we’ll play it by ear.  Gotta make a grocery run on the way home from the gym tonight.

What is on your menu plan for the week? Maybe I can get some good ideas from you!

Over 3900 calories burned this week

Hit my goal for 15 in-home walking miles again this week AND I did the 3 days of strength training I set out to do.  YEA!  I am feeling good as far as exercise goes but on the food front, not so good.  Not sure what is going on with me but I have to be more cautious  and watch what I choose to eat and how much. It’s such a constant struggle but I know I can do it. Would love to have a nutritionist and personal trainer to make my life complete ha ha

You are strong,

Suffer from constant headaches?

It’s time for your Friday Fit and Healthy Lifestyle Tip!

Do you suffer from constant headaches?  I used to until I started exercising on a regular basis.

Today’s Tip: Exercising for headache relief

Exercising increases circulation and reduces tension that can come from stress.  As most people know, exercise helps reduce toxins from the body which also helps with headache relief.  Drinking plenty of water and eating healthy are even more ways that help.  And be sure that you are breathing correctly while working out because that makes a big difference as well.  Breathe in through the nose, out the mouth.

I still get the occasional headache and the first step I take to try to relieve it is exercising.  Everyone looks at me funny when I tell them that my headaches usually go away after a quick workout and that they should try it.

Cardio exercise like spinning/cycling, Elliptical and at home walking workouts work best for me in this case and 9 times out of 10 my headache is gone.  In the event it doesn’t fully go away,  a quick cool shower usually solves the problem.  I don’t have experience with yoga but I have heard that through it’s  stretching and relaxation techniques it also helps with headache relief.

I personally prefer to try for natural headache relief over medication so exercising usually does the trick. Exercising doesn’t always take my headaches away but it definitely drastically reduces the intensity of the headache.

I decided to write about this today because I have experienced more headaches this week than I had in a very long time and all but one time my headaches went away immediately after working out.   Of course this is only my personal experience and you should definitely consult with your physician before taking any headache issues in your own hands.

Have you found that exercising helps with your headaches?

Time for Menu Plan Monday!

Menu Plan Monday

OK, so we didn’t plan anything for the week.  We are going to have to play it by ear unless we come up with a menu plan tonight.  Not a lot in the house but we’ll make do this week because I don’t feel like going to the store except for bananas and maybe some veggies.  We’ll see!

I’m thinking we’ll have tuna/soup, pasta, chicken/veggie, breakfast for dinner and maybe we’ll order in one night!  I don’t really know.

So sorry you didn’t find an exciting menu this week, not that any of our menus are enough to write home about ha ha
