And now we have one last fun giveaway!

Jennifer Swain, an Independent distributor rep for the company itworks is giving away the ULTIMATE BODY APPLICATOR!  What a generous prize!

It is an cloth wrap infused with an herbal solution. The active ingredients in the Ultimate Applicator help to heal the skin, producing a tightening, toning and firming effect. The Ultimate Applicator also detoxifies the body, which often results in inch loss as your body flushes out the toxins. The ingredients continue to work for 72 hours after you have applied the Ultimate Applicator, so you may continue to see progressive results over this time period.

The results you see from the Ultimate Body Applicator are not temporary, like you may have experienced or heard about with many body wraps that simply cause water loss.  The Ultimate Body Applicator helps detoxify, tighten, tone, and firm in a manner that produces lasting results—without water loss.

As is true with any weight loss or body slimming, you can reverse the results you see from the Ultimate Body Applicator with poor eating habits and lack of exercise. This is why we say, depending on your eating habits and level of daily activity, you can expect your results to last approximately anywhere from 2 – 6 months.

Continued use of the Ultimate Body Applicators (one wrap every 72 hours at most) will also help you achieve continued results and maintain results you may be reversing with eating and lifestyle habits.

This sounds like a pretty cool product!  I do want to say however that I have not personally tried this product so I cannot share any results or give you much info on the product however Jen is more than happy to help answer any questions you might have.

To enter for a chance to win this giveaway, visit Jen’s website and come back here to tell me the name of at least one other product the company carries.  Comment before Sunday at 10 PM Eastern.

Thank you Jen for such a great giveaway!  I’m looking forward to hopefully trying out the product as well.

Happy Shopping & Happy Holidays,

P.S. And lastly is a quick review of an Otterbox product called the Commuter™ Series for iphone that I received from the Otterbox company for review.  I got the red Otterbox Commuter TL iPhone case and it’s pretty good for every day use.  The outside is a plastic translucent shell that gives extra support along with a textured silicone skin.  I’m not sure I could use this case when I go to workout because it doesn’t totally cover the iphone (the potential of the front of the iphone breaking scares me ha ha) but I do like it for everyday use and have been using it exclusively for about 2 weeks now and overall give it a thumbs up.

I am also in the process of reviewing two other Otterbox products and I cannot wait to do a full review on all 3 items together.  I’ll be testing these products out over the next 5 weeks and will have a full review by the 1st week of January.  I really want to see how well one of them works in Jamaica since I’ll have my iphone around sand and water.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!  Should be fun reviewing these other 2 products.  Thanks Otterbox and Molly for the opportunity to test out these great products.

Happy Thanksgiving

I pre-scheduled this blog post because we are spending some quality time with my family this Thanksgiving.  Hopefully I’m walking and watching my portions today!  I am thankful for so many things I cannot even begin to list them all.

I’m thankful for….

1)  Hubby

2) Family

3) Roof over our head

4) the ability to work from home

5) go ‘home’ to our favorite resort in Jamaica every year

And of course, I’m so thankful for all of my readers here on the blog. You ALL are so supportive and I really need that on this weight loss/fitness journey I’m on.  I’m here for you too so please never hesitate to let me know how I can help YOU!

What are you thankful for?

I’m getting there…

It felt really good getting back into the groove a bit this week although I still am not back at my normal workout routine.  Had more dental issues of course and have one last dental appointment for 2009 (keep your fingers crossed LOL) tomorrow and we’ll be spending Thanksgiving with my parent’s. I’m excited to see them and it also means we are that much closer to our vacation to Jamaica.

I mentioned to Kev tonight that I am going to try my best to exercise every day while in Jamaica. Whether it be formal workouts over at the 10-acre Sports and Fitness Complex like Elliptical, Spinning class, etc. or water sport activities like snorkeling, I am going to try to be active every single day we are there.

How did you do this week?

Benefits of exercise on mental health

Exercise is not only great for physical aspects like losing weight, building muscle and becoming lean but it’s also great when it comes to mental health.

Today’s Tip:  Benefits of exercise on mental health

1)  Helps to control emotions especially when  sad or feeling down about something.

2)  Helps to manage stress and relieve anxiety.  Less tension should help put you in a better mood too.  Once I get moving it feels like I’m just releasing all stress which leads me into the next benefit

3) Helps with  your ability to think straight and process stuff.  I definitely seem to retain more when I can focus better.

4) Helps to keep you more relaxed and fall asleep faster.  I usually sleep better too!  A good night’s sleep is always good for your health.

5) Helps with confidence and strength.  I feel strong and more confident while also proving to myself I have the discipline to keep going no matter what obstacle I might encounter.

Exercise appears to help with various health issues so it’s highly recommended (but of course you’ll want to check with your physician before starting any fitness program).  I personally find that exercise definitely helps with my mental state and I experience many of the benefits listed above.

Hey some say exercise might even make you smarter!  Hmm maybe this means that I should workout hard before the scuba exam that I am so nervous to take while in Jamaica.  I don’t retain stuff well and it takes me a while to grasp things so maybe I’ll hit the resort gym after the class instruction and before the test.  Hmmmm

Here are some more benefits of exercise on mental health and other hidden benefits of exercise

Have you personally found that exercise helps your mental health and if so in what way?

P.S. The book Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain sounds like a great read.  Have you read it yet?

Whittle My Middle with Turbulence Training

The Whittle My Middle 30 day challenge (video included) over at Oh She Glows blog sounds like fun so I’m going to do my best to take part.  They started last week but my 30 days starts today.  I’ll complete this challenge the day before we leave for Jamaica so I’m excited to see what I can accomplish until then.  I am having more tooth issues but I am going to just do the best I can and try to not let it bother me.

I took measurements back on November 1st and will measure again on Dec. 17th. Sure hope to lose inches because that will give me the incentive to keep up my workouts while on vacation.

The Whittle My Middle challenge includes these exercises from the Turbulence Training program:

  • Plank
  • Side plank
  • Stability ball plank
  • Stability ball jack knife
  • Stability ball roll out
  • Plank rotations

Of course I might just go ahead and include my 50 stability ball crunches goal in there too.  I haven’t been doing those yikes!

As for my Weekly Weigh-In, I lost another pound!  So here are the stats

Last week’s weight: 236

Current weight: 235
Goal weight: 140
Pounds left to go: 95

Next Wednesday I don’t have plans to check in as we’ll be spending time with family for Thanksgiving so have a great week.  I am going to do my best to try to choose healthier food options AND smaller portions during our family Thanksgiving.

Are you doing the Whittle My Middle challenge?  And did you weigh in this week?

P.S.  So far I’m not meeting my walking mileage goals for the Pile on the Miles challenge BUT I am still working out and getting in as much walking as I can.  So although I’m not going to meet the goal, I’m still moving!
