Absolutely awesome workout!  I asked Karen if we could work on some ab stuff and although it was tough, it was a fabulous workout and I can’t wait to do more.

Saturday- Day off

Sunday-

*Spin class
Time: 1 hr.

Once again, NO AIR in the spin class and I’m just a tad irritated with L.A. Fitness.  I mean I love the gym overall but this stuff seems to happen too often. Plus they have bikes, treadmills, etc. that need fixing and for the price we pay I expect these things to be taken care of and not left for weeks and even MONTHS at a time.

Exhausting week but I feel good and I’m ready to start a new week.  I have a few personal training sessions this week so I’m excited about that but I’m not sure how other workouts will go.  I do know that I’m not going to go back to Pilates but am going to look at the gym class schedule  to see what else I might try in July.  We’ll see!

How did your workouts go this week?  Please share!

Movin and groovin

OK so last week I dropped the bomb on posting my workouts and now we are a week behind but I wanted to give you a total update on everything going on so you’ll see all workouts below from the week before and this past week.  Things are getting better….I had been sick for a bit after an ear infection, I got bells palsy which was pretty annoying and it’s been a challenge to get through the past two weeks with the addition of having to put our 18 year old cat down the same day it all started.

But I’m happy to say that I am starting to feel better although there are some things that I’m struggling with when it comes to running.  My cardiac numbers are apparently too high and I need to get some things checked.  I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to run the 1/2 marathon at this point BUT I am going to see if I can walk it.  If not, I might have to ultimately downgrade to the 10K.  I’m not sure how I feel about this because I committed to doing it but I guess if there are health issues I can’t push it.  I’ll keep you updated!

So below you’ll see all recent workouts.

Dara Torres inspires me

Please help me welcome internationally renowned Olympic swimmer Dara Torres!  Dara has chosen my blog Losing It and Loving It as one of her 1st blog tour stops and I’m really excited to have her here.  Dara is so passionate about everything she does and has worked hard to achieve all of her goals.  She inspires me!

I was sent a complimentary copy of Dara’s new book, Gold Medal Fitness.  I chose which section of the book I wanted to review and discuss and it’s titled Your Inner Athlete.  I wonder if you can guess WHY I chose to focus on that section….hmmm maybe the upcoming 1/2 marathon that hubby and I signed up for?  I truly need to find my inner athlete and after reading this section of Dara’s book I am on the right path.

New Keurig coffee machine rocks my world

Have you ever seen the Keurig coffee machine?

And you’re probably wondering what in the world this has to do with my weight loss and fitness blog and I’ll explain.  I had tried the Keurig coffee machine twice before I saw the offer to review one of the Keurig special edition coffee machines and initially thought it would be great to share this product especially since they offered green tea which we all know is healthy. BUT I used it for both coffee and tea and have found that by using this Keurig coffee machine, I have drastically cut down on the coffee, sugar and creamer that I was consuming every day.  I was drinking way too much coffee so hubby and I use this coffee machine often for portion control.  For me it has been a lifesaver!

The week that started great

…..didn’t end so well.  I kicked butt the 1st two days but got a massive ear infection that took me down for the remainder of the week and I am still feeling pretty bad.  I have truly missed the gym and working out this week.  It’s like I get going really good and then something happens. It’s been a challenge for sure.  I am going to personal training tomorrow no matter what but I’ll have to take it easy.  Other than that nothing much else is going on except I’m sure soon I’ll have to be making a decision about my elderly cat.  She hasn’t been doing well and you know how the rest goes.  She is such a sweetie, it’s really sad.

On to my workouts for the week, so exciting ha ha

Snack Smart this summer

Tasty Tuesday:  Time to snack smart this summer!

With swimsuit season quickly approaching, eating healthier and getting in shape for summer is top of mind for many people.  One important part of weight management is healthy snacking – eating light, often.  In fact, new research presented at the Experimental Biology conference this week reveals that low-fat popcorn is a smart snack choice for weight management.

The study, commissioned by ConAgra Foods, found that eating a filling but calorie-controlled snack, such as Orville Redenbacher’s 94 percent fat-free SmartPop! popcorn, will leave you feeling fuller and less hungry than snacking on the same caloric amount of milk chocolate.

The study found that participants who ate a 100-calorie portion of SmartPop! popcorn versus two nuggets of milk chocolate (also 100 calories) were significantly less hungry and more full, had less desire for a second snack, and were more satisfied with the amount of food after eating the popcorn.
