My Hotel Workout On Video

Thanks to Lynn at Traveling Low Carb and Lynn Terry TV, we have a video from one of our hotel fitness center workouts last week.  As you know, she challenged me to do some form of exercise every day in February and we discuss a bit about it in the video.

The Marriott Century Center in Atlanta has a nice fitness center but not all of my workouts were done in there.  Some were done in the stairwell walking flights of stairs and a bit of strength training in the lobby at 1 AM one morning, oh yes we did.

Spinning Class

Angie on the Spin bike 2

Today Kev and I took our first spinning class. I had been so nervous every time he mentioned trying it out and I wish I would’ve tried it out sooner. Today we did Interval and they say that is the most difficult of the Spinning classes. The instructor is the lead Personal Trainer at our gym and has been very helpful. She was running late this morning so wasn’t really able to help me get the bike set up but we are thinking of taking another spinning class tomorrow morning so the instructor for that will help me. The only part of the class that she asked me not to do yet was the jumping (she told Kev that too but he couldn’t help himself).

My calories burned during spinning class were over 550. I thought it was a great workout and the music selection she had was fabulous. I’m so glad I decided to give it a try and look forward to many more spinning classes.

Do you Spin? If so, I would love to hear about your experience. And for those of you on the fence about taking a spinning class, I would recommend that you give it a try.

Fitness Center Open House

Our gym had an Open House tonight and it was fun.  They had a lot of give- aways, free massages, food and meet and greet.  My ticket was the 2nd one called for a prize and I won a cool gym bag from the fitness center.  Since we joined over 2 months ago, I have been debating if I would buy one and now I’m glad I kept putting it off.  They were also offering free mini massages and I took advantage of that.  I think we will sign up to get massages this summer.

Kev and I have been talking about trying out a spin class but I have been so worried that I wouldn’t be able to do it.  We talked to the head Personal Trainer tonight who leads the spin class tomorrow and I mentioned how worried I was but she said she has total faith that I will be fine since I do a lot of cardio machines and Turbo Kick classes.  She also mentioned that I can take it slow and stay seated if I need to.  So tomorrow morning we will be at the gym when it opens, workout and do weights for about 50 min, test out the spin bikes for 10 min. and take the spin class for an hour.

I’ll let you know how that goes.  Wish me luck!

Great day at the gym

Excellent workout at the gym today. Working out with Kevin (my hubby) is so motivating. He keeps me going and encourages me to keep doing better whether it’s by telling me to bump my treadmill incline, offering me a high five and constantly telling me I can do it. We sure do have a great time together and his support means a lot to me.

It’s been one month now since we joined the fitness center. I have enjoyed getting to know the staff and we especially look forward to our Smoothie Saturday’s. Our fitness center has a smoothie bar and my favorite so far is the Peanut Butter. Kevin likes the fruity concoctions.

Kevin takes full advantage of the sauna almost every day that we go to the gym. He enjoys that a lot.

We try to go at least 5 days a week to get the most bang for our buck. Looking forward to going back tomorrow morning.
