What I’m Reading: It Starts With Food

I was sent a free copy of the book It Starts With Food: Discover the Whole30 and Change Your Life in Unexpected Ways.  I had heard great things about it but didn’t really know what it was all about. Sounded intriguing.

There is a section on what they call “science-y stuff” which really doesn’t appeal to me.  To be honest it overwhelms me.  But there are some great tips in the book, not to mention recipes.

Smoothie Fail

This morning was a smoothie fail.  I mixed up some chocolate hemp protein powder with almond milk, peanut butter and strawberries and it was awful. Not only was the taste not good, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to mix/blend this protein powder so the little chalky clumps go away.

I have tried everything:  the Blender Bottle cup, the Magic Bullet blender/mixer and even just stirring with a spoon.  I even changed up the order I put the milk and powder in together.  No luck whatsoever.  I will not be getting this protein powder again.

More Healthy Snack Ideas

You might recall, last month I shared some healthy snack ideas for travel.  I have come across a lot more healthy snack ideas and wanted to link to a few here.

I am on a mission to lose weight, make healthier food choices, cut down on desserts, etc. so I need all the help I can get. Oh and I don’t cook so the recipes/ideas have to be super simple.

I would also love the prep time to be as short as possible but some of these you can make ahead and eat throughout the week.
