Healthy Recipe for Homemade Nachos

Just made an awesome and quick lunch today. Everything I kept pulling from the cupboard, I kept putting back because I just didn’t feel like making it.

So I saw lentils in the fridge and was immediately craving them. Then the meal just came together and I decided to whip up a healthy recipe for homemade nachos.

They were delicious.  Probably a bit more sodium than I would have liked but still yummy. Here’s the recipe:

How to Make Kale Chips

Here is one recipe that I can handle. It’s a much healthier alternative to regular chips.

Kale is full of vitamins, has no fat, is an anti-inflammatory, helps lower cholesterol and much more.

I like kale chips plain but I have seen people put ketchup on them.  I am trying to limit the use of condiments now but I might have to try a little ketchup with my kale today.

And you can vary the spices too, from mild to spicy.

Go try this!

Brad’s Raw Foods: Healthy Snacking

I had the opportunity to sample some of Brad’s Raw Foods and I am in love.  They sent me a variety of products to try and with each one I kept wanting more.  It was a real treat to try these out.  I know I will be buying more!

The company sent me sweet potato chips, Vampire Killer raw leafy kale and Naked raw leafy kale.  The sweet potato chips are good but they are a bit too hard for me personally.  I do like them dipped in hummus though.  The products that stole the show for me were the packages of raw leafy kale. OH MY GOODNESS!

PR*Nutrition Bars

I was given the opportunity to review a variety of PR*Nutrition Bars and I love them!  I only eat bars like this on occasion but  these are so tasty.  I have tried the Peanut Butter Granola (thick and tasty), Chocolate Mint (sweet but good), Oatmeal Raisin Granola (sweet but oh so good especially for someone who doesn’t care for raisins) and the Peanut Butter Berry Granola (it was good but a bit sweet for me).  I still have the Apple Pie one left to try and I’m sure it will be good as well.

The bars are all 200 or more calories and have a good amount of protein and other positive things going for them.  The only negative I found was they have corn syrup and fructose listed in their ingredients but like I always say, all things in moderation.

Sheri Sears co-founder and Executive VP of PR*Nutrition, Inc. says these bars were designed to enhance your body’s natural ability to burn body fat while maintaining or increasing lean body mass.  Controlling blood sugars is the key to weight loss success.

Health Benefits of Chia Seeds

A lot of people have been asking me about the health benefits of chia seeds and how to incorporate them into your daily life. I was offered a product to sample for review so it’s perfect timing to share the info with you.

Health Warrior sent me their new 100 calorie peanut butter chocolate chia bar samples to taste.  Heath warrior is a premium chia seed company and Nick Morris, co-founder of the company says, “We created Health Warrior because we experienced first-hand the health and fitness benefits of the chia seed and wanted to share our discovery with the world.”

Wasa Flatbread Review and Workouts

Had a really tasty treat this week!  Will tell you more in my review below.  But first, here are my workouts for the week which are nothing to write home about but I’ll get over this hump soon. We are done with the shed and hopefully by the time I return from my business trip next week the garage will be empty and we’ll be able to start on the remodel of the home gym garage space.

While on my business trip this week, I hope to get some good workouts in at the hotel gym and I get to go to a Muay Thai Atlanta kickboxing gym.  I was going to get in there and really box but have had some back/neck issues so as of right now, I’m just going to get some boxing training in but you never know.  We’ll see how I feel come Wednesday!
