Vibram Five Finger Shoes Workout

Workouts this week were good but could have been better but I’m still excited about the progress I have made with running in my Vibram Five Fingers shoes.  I still have a LONG way to go but I’m enjoying the challenge.  And it’s much easier than in regular running shoes. Who would have thought?  I have only run inside on the treadmill but I’m happy with that for now.  I’ll tackle the outdoor breathing challenges another year ha ha

I’m in the process of looking for a good cross training shoe for when I start doing kick boxing and other workout videos again.  Plus I’ll be doing some HIIT (high intensity interval training). I have tried a few shoes in the past but have heard of some suggestions like Puma and Skechers.  If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears.

Happy Father’s Day and workouts

Wishing all the great dad’s out there a Happy Father’s Day!  We had a very busy and fun weekend but tiring.  A family reunion on Saturday was great but it sure wiped us out. Still tired but looking forward to a better week as far as exercise and eating goes.

Yes, I am really learning to listen to my body and take it easy when I need to.  I think I’ll be ready to get back to my normal workouts next week YEA!  Finally!  I am going to do my best again this week though.

I have a meeting with a personal trainer at our new gym tomorrow night and I’m looking forward to that.  Kimberly and I talked on Friday and I think we will be a good fit.  I sure wish I could keep training with her after my initial complimentary consult but the funds right now won’t permit that.  Hubby even offered me his free consult and she said that was fine but I really want him to have it.  He’s so good to me!

I’ll let ya’ll know how it goes!  I truly can’t wait until we are at the new gym full time starting August 1st. YEA!

How were your workouts this past week?

Workouts, Wii and L.A. Fitness

It was a definitely a feeling of defeat this week (until today that is, which you can read about at the end of this blog post).  I have been facing so many weight loss and fitness challenges this month and have been pretty miserable.  I am one who can’t stand complaining so I’m really not going to waste much energy feeling sorry for myself ha ha but I truly want my body to work again.  Still have the tingly arm/hand from when I had that pulled muscle in my neck and then I hurt my sciatica plus I have an infected tooth.  Feel like I’m falling apart.  I am praying that I will be back to normal by July so I can start the 30 Day Shred and get back to a normal routine.  Only 6 months to go until our awesome Jamaican vacation so I really want to kick some bootay.

Please just keep good thoughts for me that I will be able to get back to normal soon.  I appreciate all the support I get from my online friends.  Don’t worry, I’m not giving up…I will keep on pushing through and I will meet all the goals I have set for myself.

I’m not going to set any fitness goals for this next week but I will promise to do my best!

Now for today’s news!  We left this afternoon to go shopping at Gurnee Mills mall just to pick up these awesome foaming  hand soaps from Bath and Body Works but we also did a lot more.  As we were having lunch at The Rainforest Cafe, Kev saw a sign at Game Stop that said they had Wii Fit in stock so we went over and decided to buy Wii Fit.  I was so excited!  Hubs has been setting it up and playing with it for a while and I just did my Wii Fit Mii profile.  Might try some of the exercises in a bit but I don’t want to overdo it with my back especially because of this next bit of AWESOME info but first

Do you have Wii Fit?  If so, share anything you think we should know about it. Online groups, blogs, etc.

On our way home, Kev pulled into the parking lot of an  L.A. Fitness sports club because we had talked about the possibility of maybe switching fitness centers in the next 6 months since our current one has made some changes we don’t agree with and well, the L.A. Fitness center was so beautiful and the deal was something we could not pass up so we joined on the spot.

It’s going to be a hard month because we paid an initiation fee and first and last months dues there plus we still have to pay 45 days more to our other fitness center because they have a crazy 45 day written cancellation notice.  BUT we are so darn excited about it because spinning classes (called cycling there) will be 2x a week AND we will have aqua fit classes 2x a week.  This L.A. Fitness center just opened in January so it’s immaculate and I love the variety of equipment too.  We can even play volleyball, basketball and racquetball there. It’s further away from our house but only by about 15 min. so we’ll deal with it.

I’m OVER feeling defeated and can’t wait to get back to the grind even if it’s not this week.

How were your workouts last week and what are your goals for this week?

And lastly do any of you take aqua fit classes?  Any tips would be appreciated.

Hope you have a great week!

Goals for the week and workouts

This week was good but different not having two spin classes and having to do a spin ride on our own.  We did OK but I think I might have pushed a bit too hard (hubby says so LOL).  I think tomorrow I will do an endurance ride and try to stay the same heart rate throughout the ride.  Maybe I’ll add a few jumps to get my heart rate going though.  I just love hand position three on the spin bike, it’s my favorite.

Anyway, here are my workout goals for the week:

*3 sets of 10 bicycle crunches 3 days
*Clamshell Crunches with exercise ball 3 days
*Spinning 4 days
*Walking all other days
*Resistance bands and weights 3 days

Fitness center frustrations and workouts

Today we got some news that just put us in a pretty bad mood.  We are more disappointed in the way everything happened but whatcha going to do?  Our fitness center has decided to cut many classes from the schedule, two being spin classes that we attend (Sunday AM and Monday PM).  This was just dropped on us this morning by our spin instructor who was totally surprised that we were not already informed.  This comes after the fitness center gave us one week notice that they were closing for TWO weeks to get stuff done.  Big mess!  We totally understand having to make wise business decisions but they aren’t doing anything about it.  I can’t see paying the current rate for them cutting the classes we attend in HALF.  We are just annoyed and I’m off to check out pricing and classes at another gym nearby.  We don’t have a lot of choices so it’s a bummer.

Kev and I would ultimately like to set up a home gym in our garage.  Would love to start with upright and recumbent bikes (or even a spin bike), an elliptical and treadmill plus maybe the ab roller or things like that.  This would be the ultimate way for us so we could work out at home AND save on the gym membership fee.  But in the meantime, I’m off to go check out Anytime Fitness to see what they have to offer.

Hey, thanks for listening to my rant LOL  We just want to be treated right and I want my 4 spin classes a week back waa waa.  Hope ya’ll had a great weekend!

Overall, I would say it was a pretty good workout week.  I’m not sure how this coming week will play out but I’ll do as much in-home workouts and outdoor walking as I can and I want to start doing 3 sets of 10 leg bicycles and 3 sets of 10 clamshell crunches with exercise ball every day.  The 30 Day Shred will wait until July.

How were  your workouts this past week and what do you have planned for the coming week?

Fitness center re-opened and workouts

This past week was another take it easy week for me.  I am happy to say I am doing a lot better (minus the numbness in my arm) AND we went back to spin today and it was great.  Only 4 of us in class but it was a good ride.  There is a holiday class tomorrow morning so we’ll get up bright and early and do a  morning class.  It’s nice to have the gym open again after 2 weeks but I’ll be honest I got a lot done and was able to rest in that time so I didn’t totally miss it ha ha!
